Before Your In-Home Pet Photography Session

I like to stop by and visit your home before the day of the session to prepare for the session and introduce myself to your dog(s). If I cannot visit the home before the session, I’ll ask for a few photos of your home to get a good feel for where I will be photographing. When I show up for an “in-home” session, the first thing I do is take a moment to meet everyone and let the pet(s) get comfortable with me. Then I look around the home to get my thoughts together, and then we ease into taking the photos. 

I want you to feel relaxed and excited about the session and not stressed at all! You don’t need to scrub your house from top to bottom. I just recommend having the main areas as free of “stuff” as possible but don’t worry too much. We can work around pretty much anything. 

Spending time with your pet and your family is a privilege for me. My top priorities are the safety and comfort of your pet and family. If an in-home pet photo session is what’s best, then let’s do it! It’s so fun experiencing a “day in the life” of your pet and documenting your family. Whatever you choose, it’ll be a great day with gorgeous artwork to treasure.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Q - Every session comes with web size digital images - share them with family, on social media, a personal blog, and more. While these images are not printable, I’m happy to work with magazines, yearbooks and other publications to provide an editorial release and the best image size for their needs. Printable digital images are available for separate purchase.

    Are digital images included?

  • Q - I will provide clear instructions on how to position your body and your horse. There’s no need to worry about where to look and how to stand. After 30 years of experience with horses and nearly a decade as a photographer, I know what will be the most flattering for their conformation and your body type.

    What if I'm awkward posing?

  • Q - If your horse is typically antsy, you will want to exercise him earlier in the day to work off some of that extra energy. If our shoot time is relatively close to feeding time, please feed before the session so he isn’t worked up missing a meal! Just make sure to clean leftovers off his face!

    What if my horse is high energy?

  • Q - Part of my talents are finding the beautiful places you never thought existed! I've managed to find amazing backgrounds in every situation. Trust me - my eye is trained to see things differently than what you see every day.

    What if my farm isn't picture perfect?

  • Q - Yes! Travel fees are charged for sessions outside the state of Missouri or outside a 100 mile radius from Elkton, MD. Travel fees can be evenly distributed between several individuals if a group shoot is scheduled.

    Do you travel?

  • Q - I’m in close contact with you the 24 hours before your shoot. If Mother Nature looks suspicious, we'll reschedule for another date as close to the original session date as possible. I usually keep a few dates reserved each month for just such occasions!
